Just a note today to remind all that the weather is changing, like no one has noticed, but if you have a house dog, they may not want to stay outside as long as they have been. If they happen to come back inside and want to do their business it will be, usually, because it is suddenly colder and or wet or both. I would suggest that one go out with your dog or puppy and stay with them till they have done their business or if it is a puppy keep the puppy on a leash till it does it’s business. Also if one is to purchase a puppy at this time of the year with the weather changing daily, it is very easy for a puppy to catch a cold just like little children. It is important to keep the new puppy warm and dry. I suggest that when one purchases a new puppy to also purchase a “Potty Park.” With the Potty Park the puppy does not have to go out side to potty. This will help greatly in the transition that the puppy is making from wherever it was purchased, to your home or it’s new home. This will help to lessen the stress that each puppy experiences when it is purchased and leaves the surroundings that it is used to. Every puppy, almost without exception, will have some sort of stress when being removed from the location that they have been for the first 8 or more weeks that they have lived. It is important that the one that has a new puppy stay in touch with the precious owner, hopefully, to help thru this transition period for the puppy. If the previous owner/breeder is a responsible person, they will be glad to help with support for the new owner. As an breeder of puppies that we allow the public to purchase, I have seen many puppies through the years, that have simply just been home sick and just to return “home” for 24-48 hrs helps that little puppy relax and back to the new owner with a very happy and relaxed attitude. This may seem unreal to those that may be reading this but this is an absolute fact. Puppies have emotions just like humans and the part that we forget is not only do they have feelings, they are babies, they cannot handle the emotional stress that adults can. Many years ago I sold a working cow dog, female, and she went to Flordia to work on a race horse ranch to help keep the horses walking on the “walker.” A few weeks later I was speaking with the fellow that purchased the little female. He said, “You did not tell me that the dog was expecting puppies.” I replied, “She is not bred” …. He proceeded to tell me that she was about to deliver puppies. I saw him a few weeks later and he told me that he had taken her to the Vet and she had had a false pregnancy due to emotional stress. Eventually, she came out of it and was a very good working dog for him.
That’s My Logic
I been reading a little and I ran across that nasty word again, you know, that PM word. It was actually in a comment section on one of our pages. It is always, to me, sad to hear that slander word used about anyone and of course, when it it used toward me and mine, it always has more impact. I am surprised at our society that seems to be sensitive, in this day and age that folks are so quick to judge and be critical about something that they may admittedly, not know anything about it. The one person had heard from “sources” that the K9 Kabin was not a good place, using the PM word, but, that person had never been in the establishment. I would like to take this time to, hopefully, clear up, educate or maybe give some positive input to those that may seem to believe what is referred to as “hear say.” I suggest, to all that those that read, hear or both, before a judgement is made, go to the establishment, view the place, talk to the people and evaluate the merchandise. If, by chance, that would happen to be the K9 Kabin or any other establishment that handles puppies, look at the puppies/dogs and first see how the puppies live, what condition as individuals, each puppy is in, does it smell of urine or waste or just the overall condition of the establishment including building, grounds, people in general. With this being done, one should be able to make a clean and clear evaluation of the place of business. The one thing that I have noted, in the last few years, fewer and fewer people seem have the ability to make a decision all on their own judgement. My simple suggestion is, if one is not sure, check the place out that you are curious about and make your own judgement. If you hear negative or positive, check it out for use your own brain to decide what is good and what it not so good. All in all just think about it and do what is fair, right and just.
That’s my Logic
As I come to you today in text form, I am going to try and let you all know more about me, Lex Smith. That may seem like a pretty easy thing to do and I hope that it will be indeed. But first, I want to explain a few simple things and the reason I decided to do my “K9 Korner”.
My wife and I started the K9 Kabin 11 yrs ago this past June. There are several reasons that we looked into doing this type of thing but the main reason, in reality is, we wanted to meet those that were purchasing puppies not just mailing them to any and everyone. We wanted the enjoyment of visiting with the pleasant folks that were purchasing and wanting to enjoy the puppies that we were putting our efforts into for the customer. For the most part, it has been a great reward, meeting and enjoying those that purchase. For now 11 years I have sat around and let those that do not know me make reviews or print statements that are not correct about us and especially myself. I have not said anything about it but have just let it go, for I have learned a long time ago that one cannot fix stupid. Actually, the only thing that I would ask of those that want to write or put in print, what they know about myself is, it be correct. I had read that I am a broker. That is not correct. One has to have a license to be a broker and I do not have that license. I am an Auctioneer but I do not have that license either so, technically, I am not a legal Auctioneer. How does that fit in this, it doesn’t, I just though that some of you would like to know that since a few want to write what they know about me. We have been called some bad names in text and on the internet. The name most often used would be equivalent to the “N” word if we were talking about humans. I do not refer to people in slander and do not expect it to happen to me. My wife and I are honest people. There are some that do not believe. We are both baptized believers in Jesus Christ. We strive to do what our Lord and Master would have us to do. Does that mean that we do not make mistakes? Absolutely not. We are not perfect. We try to treat everyone like we would want to be treated. It is never our intent, as some seem to believe, that anyone receive a puppy with any kind of problem. What many do not understand, apparently, is that this is a true statement. It is always a possibility that something can happen or is happening or near to happen or will happen, when the puppy is purchased. It seems that some folks think, apparently, that we have planned for this to happen to them. Do we forget that we are dealing with nature and a baby dog, referred to as a puppy? There are a number of things that can go wrong. It is not our intent for anything to go wrong. It is our intent that all goes well. There seems to be a few that think different. We strive to cover all avenues or so called bases to help all those that purchase a puppy. If you missed this information when purchasing a puppy, give us a call.
What baffles me is the fact there are those that seem to know much more about us than we do and know what we are doing better than we do. This, to me, is bewildering. I ask only, that if you have a question about me, just ask me. I will tell you the truth. If I feel that it is none of your business, I will tell you. When I tell you the truth, all I ask is for you to remember, Truth in itself, is no respecter of persons. If the truth falls on you, do not be mad at me, if you asked the answered questioned.
After all is said and done, Judy and I love what we do and enjoy all those that stop by The K9 Kabin. All we ask is, come in with an open mind and enjoy the puppies for it will be worth your time.
Thank you very much for all the support of those that enter and those that have purchased puppies in the past. We appreciate all of you.
Come on in the K9 Kabin and make yourself at home. If you are not at home, you oughta be.
May Puppy Tales be Waggin,
We were lookin for a naturally calm natured dog to potentially be my husbands service dog. They helped us every step of the way to ensure our pick was exactly what we needed and wanted. Thank you!! We love our pup and excited to say he was accepted into K9’s for Camo veteran service dog program.
